Electronic cards can take the edge off getting special greetings to loved ones world-round.
By Sabrina Dent, Forum Manager

December is a big month for holidays. As halls are overdecked with Christmas décor in all our department stores, it’s easy to forget that this is the month we also celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Ramadan and the Winter Solstice.

You may not want to buy a gift for every occasion, but sending a free email card couldn’t be any easier. By sending virtual cards over the Internet, you can personalise your greeting to the ones you love and have guaranteed instant delivery. It’s the sort of system that would work well for Santa in this busy season.

To send a card, simply visit any of the web sites we detail here. Pick a card by occasion from the card galleries, enter the email address of the recipient, and enter your personailised information. Click send, and hey presto! You’re away.

For cards covering every possible holiday, from the biggies to the truly obscure, check out Blue Mountain Arts. Cards are not always of the best quality, but the range is enormous. 123 Greetings, on the other hand, has a smaller selection of high-quality cards, though the selection may not match everyone’s tastes. This popular site can suffer from over-busy servers at times.

Build-A-Card also offers a small selection, but has the added advantages of animated greeting cards, which are always a treat to get. Also offering something different is Disney, which asks you to register for free before letting you in to send first-rate cards for the major occasions.

Finally, for something really different, you can always send a Concorde. Yes, instead of a virtual card, you can send a virtual gift from the Virtual Presents centre, from vintage champagne to exotic holidays.

So, if you forget to email me this season's greetings, I'll aways take a virtual Porche as a token of apology :o)
